Molly Maid Takes a Stand for Domestic Violence
National Residential Cleaning Franchise Raises Money, Awareness for the Cause

NORTHBROOK, IL, September 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- National cleaning franchise Molly Maid will help raise money and awareness this year about the growing number of domestic violence victims across the country. During October's National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, franchise owners will donate a portion of service fees from each home that Molly Maid cleans to the Ms. Molly Foundation, a non-profit charity which provides assistance to local domestic violence shelters and organizations across the country.

Since its inception in 1996, the Ms. Molly Foundation has raised more than $1 million for local domestic violence shelters throughout the United States and Canada with their Making a Difference Drive every October. Last year, donations from customers were up 20 percent from 2009 and the funds raised went to provide much-needed support to more than 110 domestic violence shelters and safe houses across the nation.

"Domestic violence is the country's most under-reported crime and it's too often that women are forced out of their homes because of it," said Molly Maid President Kristi Mailloux. "Giving back to the communities we service is a core belief of Molly Maid and this cause is a perfect fit."

Many Molly Maid franchise owners chose to support the system-wide cause after witnessing the prevalence of domestic violence among their own employees. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately 1.3 million women are physically assaulted by an intimate partner annually in the United States.

Through the Making a Difference Drive, Molly Maid hopes to cross the $1 million mark this year when it comes to goods and monetary contributions. The 450-unit franchise anticipates more than 70-percent participation from their franchise system to help the company reach their goal.
