UCAOA Announces 3rd Fellowship Program in Urgent Care
Program developed in collaboration with the University of Nevada School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine in Las Vegas and the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and its Quick Care Clinics.

WARRENVILLE, IL, July 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) is proud to announce the approval of its 3rd fellowship training program in urgent care medicine, developed in collaboration with the University of Nevada School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine in Las Vegas. Working in partnership with University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) and its Quick Care Clinics, the 12 month fellowship will provide post-residency training for family medicine graduates interested in pursuing careers in urgent care.

"We are very pleased with the joint efforts of the School of Medicine and UMC," said Lee A. Resnick, M.D., UCAOA's national fellowship director. "They have successfully integrated a strong academic department with a busy clinical urgent care network, creating an ideal training environment for new fellows. Utilizing the core competencies and curriculum developed by UCAOA, this dynamic partnership has adopted a proven training model for urgent care physicians."

Aron Rogers, D.O., will be the School of Medicine's urgent care fellowship director, with the support of family medicine department chair, Elissa Palmer, M.D. The program will begin training its first fellow on August 1.

The first urgent care fellowship was formed in 2006 at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by a second program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, Ill. The program's expansion represents a response to increased demand for additional urgent care training from family medicine graduates and the expansion of urgent care services nationally.
