Medline Industries, Inc. Selects Configure One to Help Expedite Order Process, Enhance Customer Service
Healthcare leader chooses product configurator software to help reduce quote turnaround time and process orders faster


OAK BROOK, IL, July 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Configure One , a leading provider of web-based product configurator and electronic catalog software, today announced that Medline Industries, Inc.— the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare products — selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator .

Based in Mundelein, Ill., Medline manufactures and distributes more than 100,000 products to hospitals, extended care facilities, surgery centers, home care dealers and agencies and other markets. Medline's Interiors Division manufactures furnishings for healthcare facilities. Customers can plan, design, and visualize products from thousands of fabrics and wood finishes. "We were looking for a solution that would enable us to produce an accurate quotation faster," said Lisa Bauer, president of Medline Interiors Division. "During the sales cycle, a quote may go through many iterations, and we needed to be more responsive to better serve our customers."

Medline went through an exacting process to define their needs, and produced a very detailed specification of their requirements. "We sent out a Request for Proposal to a select group of vendors," said Bauer. "Based on their responses, we invited a short-list of four vendors for demonstrations and presentations."

According to Bauer, Configure One's demonstration was the most complete. "Configure One demonstrated that Concept would address virtually all of our needs. Just as important, they demonstrated that they understood our business."

Medline is on a fast track to implementation. "This is a very urgent and important project for our company," said Bauer. "I couldn't wait six months. I have a great deal of confidence that Configure One will provide the necessary support to ensure we met our deadlines."

Bauer expects to see a dramatic reduction in the time needed to create a quotation. "Depending on the complexity, it can take 24 to 48 hours to produce a quote. With Concept, we expect to generate quotes in less than 30 minutes. This will increase productivity and enable our staff to produce more quotes. Also, Concept's integration with SAP, Medline's ERP system, will allow us to seamlessly move a Concept-generated quote to a sales order in SAP to start the manufacturing process."
